Judicial Policymaking
- Reduce judicial policymaking
- Eliminate reliance on foreign law in U.S. Court cases; judges are sworn to uphold the laws of the United States.
- Adopt a Constitutional amendment allowing an override of Supreme Court decisions (within 5 years) with a 60% vote of both houses of Congress in two consecutive Congresses (encourage similar amendments for states).
- Revise the Senate confirmation process. Any person nominated for judge or appointment receives a vote within 120 days of nomination.
Goals: Reduce Judicial Policymaking; reduce politicization of the current judicial appointment process.
Reasons: Constitution gives Congress power to set up judicial system. Current system is not working. Too many judges are improperly wielding power. In addition, because of the importance judges have with their power, the appointment process has become too political. If we do not bring judicial power back into balance, I fear for the safety of Supreme Court justices when members of the far right or far left feel that they can accomplish a shift of power.
