Development of Advisory Committees
- Create two federal committees of (i) 25 leaders from universities across the country and (ii) 25 diverse business leaders to think about and report about specific solutions to certain problems
- Application process to insure not too liberal or conservative - need balance
- Need a report agreed to by 80%; report must address question in 10 pages or less; no other reports released
- No authority; advisory only
- No payment other than prestige
Goals: Create process to generate creative thought in independent, balanced forum.
Reasons: We waste a lot of time and money on legislative hearings. Let's get some leadership and research conducted by the private sector that may be useful in solving problems. We need more balanced, practical discussions of the issues facing our country. These committees are intended to replace the need for certain expensive and politicized Congressional hearings
